FRIDA



Frida is an incredible little Chihuahua with a sad story. She was turned into the shelter to be euthanized because her owners could no longer care for her. But she was jumping up and giving kisses to the shelter employee so the shelter convinced the owners to just release the dog to be rehomed, as she definitely was not ready to go to doggy heaven yet!!

Frida is a spayed 12yo who is severely overweight! She *should* weigh about 5-6lbs... but currently weighs over 11lbs! Despite the weight, she's a VERY happy, social girl. Does GREAT with all people, other dogs, and cats. She is just so friendly and loving.. all she needs is someone's lap to lay on and she's a happy camper! She will definitely need a diet and plenty of short walks to help bring her weight down. She would be the perfect bring-your-dog-to-work kind of dog! :) She has already been a huge hit at the pet store and the vet clinic with her adorable charm! She will make an excellent, very loving companion.

DELILAH



Delilah is a wonderful 2-3yr old Dachshund (with maybe terrier??) mix of some sort... She's very friendly and social, likes to give her person kisses. We've also learned that she LOVES tennis balls and she loves to play fetch, so she would be a fun, playful dog for kids. She already knows "sit" so she is very smart and should be easy to train. Even appears housebroken! Does great with other dogs and ignores cats. She also does excellent in the car. At the end of the day, she loves cuddling with her person. She will make a great, fun companion!

She's spayed, up to date on all her shots, and microchipped, and comes with a collar, harness, leash, sweater, and a bag of food!

STEWART



Stewart is a very sweet and sensitive 3yo purebred Smooth Fox Terrier? Or maybe a Whippet mix.. He is the perfect medium-sized dog but he's fairly large for a Smooth Fox Terrier (should weigh about 30-35lbs, but is currently skin and bones at 23lbs!). He was rescued from the shelter just in the nick of time! He's a little timid so needs slow introductions to new dogs and situations, and he's fine with cats (more scared of them than anything, so he just ignores/avoids them). He bonds closely with his person, so will make a wonderful companion for someone.. but would probably do better in a home without small children. He's already neutered and up to date on his shots. He is quite agile though so will need to go to a home with a tall, sturdy fence!

MR. MOM


ADOPTION PENDING! :)

Mr. Mom is a great 1yo chocolate Longhair Chihuahua mix. He was found with a litter of puppies that looked similar to him and he defended them, so the shelter thought he was the mom for two weeks until the vet finally checked! So who knows, maybe he was the dad or maybe he happened to come upon this litter of puppies and noticed they needed help. All the puppies got adopted and poor Mr. Mom sat in the shelter for two months before we rescued him! We are surprised he hadn't been adopted as he is so cute and has the greatest disposition!

Mister gets along great with other dogs, does ok with cats but will sometimes chase.. it depends on the cat, and LOVES people! He's a very friendly, sweet-hearted dog, who still has some puppy quirks and is very playful. Does great in the car, appears to be housebroken for the most part, and crates well at night. He already knows "sit"! He's a very smart boy and should be easy to train. For a Chihuahua, he's also pretty quiet. Just a wonderful all-around little guy.

Mr. Mom is already neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped, and comes with a collar, harness, leash, and a bag of food!

HONEY



Honey is a very sweet 1yo Chow/Shepherd who was found running loose at a business next door to where one of our volunteers work. We caught her and took her to the shelter in hopes of finding her owners, however they only gave her 72hrs before they were going to euthanize her, so we bailed her out just in time!

She gets along great with other dogs and cats, walks very well on leash, does great in the car, and appears housebroken! She is a little timid so would do better in a household without small children. She is SO quiet and we havent heard her bark yet once! She may even do well in an apartment setting as long as she gets sufficient exercise. Once she gets accustomed to her surroundings, she loves to run and play! She will follow her person everywhere and is one of the most loving, loyal dogs I have met. She will make someone an AWESOME companion for life..

ALL supplies and medical needs for this dog will be covered by our rescue for fosterers. Adoption fee applies for adopters.

TY



Ty is a very sweet 3 year old Shiba Inu/Chihuahua mix, who is already neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He ended up at the shelter when he was picked up as a stray. He was one of our first rescue dogs, but unfortunately, his new owner could no longer commit to caring for a dog so he came back to our rescue. He would be okay living with another dog, or by himself. His only negative aspect is he cannot go to a home with cats, as he likes to chase them. He loves people so he'd be great with kids! The Shiba Inu part of Ty makes him very independent, yet the Chihuahua part of him makes him a sweet cuddle-bug lapdog! He will require a sturdy fence though and some training to set boundaries. He responds well to treats and is a very smart dog. He is very playful so would do well in a household with a yard.

PENNY



Penny is a very cute 3yo Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who was rescued from the shelter after being overlooked for over 3 months, where she had been picked up as a stray.

She does very well in the car and even while getting bathed and her nails cut! She gets along great with other dogs and cats once properly introduced, and might be okay with older, gentle children. She will need continuous socialization and training, but she is very food motivated and willing to learn! She also appears to be housebroken and doesn't seem to shed much with her short, sleek coat. She's a very sweet little dog who loves belly rubs, cuddling, and dancing for treats!

MILEY



Miley is an absolute doll!! She's a 1yr wonderful Chihuahua (possibly mix??) who was rescued from the shelter after being overlooked for nearly 3 months!! She had been picked up as a stray and due to the immense number of pit bulls and chihuahuas in the shelter, she was simply overlooked, despite her very easygoing and friendly manner, and super cute looks! (notice her little white socks?)

She is very well-socialized with dogs of all sizes and gets along great with cats. She'd probably be okay with children as long as they are gentle. She's just glad to finally be out of doggie prison and ready to find her forever home!

GINGER

Ginger kicks the Chihuahua stereotype to the curb! This 1yo little princess is the most socialized, loving, happy little dog you will ever meet! She even dances when she greets people!

She gets along great with other dogs, is totally fine with cats, and loves people! (although a home without small children would be ideal due to her small size, especially since she needs to gain some weight) We rescued Ginger from the shelter after noticing how emaciated she was. We felt she would thrive with proper nutrition, love, and care, outside of the shelter walls where she had to compete for food (or probably didn't compete which is why she was so underweight!). Despite what she's been through, she couldn't be more loving and accepting of others, and she is oh so smart! She's already housebroken, crate-trained, completely figured out on her own how to use a doggy door, walks well on the leash, jumps right into the car. She will make someone a very loving, loyal companion!

Ginger comes with a collar, harness, leash, doggy sweater to keep her warm, and a bag of food!

*Note: Ginger will be available for adoption after August 24 so she can gain a little weight, but we are still accepting applications for her!

KING



King is a wonderful 5yo Chihuahua (maybe Chiweenie??). He had previously been adopted from the shelter, but was later picked up as a stray and no one came looking for him or reclaimed him. Poor little guy just kept getting overlooked at the shelter and was there for nearly two months before we rescued him! Now he's glad to finally be out of doggie prison and awaiting his perfect forever home!

King gets along wonderfully with cats and dogs of all sizes, and he'd probably be okay in a home with older children, as long as they are gentle. This little guy definitely has a character and knows he's hot stuff! His tail never stops wagging, and he loves following and cuddling with his person. He does well in a crate and is a very smart, happy little guy. He will make a lucky someone a wonderful, very loyal companion.

HERSHEY



Hershey is a beautiful 2 year old chocolate and tan Chihuahua. She is an extremely wonderful, very sweet, loving, and loyal girl.

She was overlooked at the shelter for over a month before we rescued her, because she had shut herself down due to the scary shelter environment. My guess is she used to be a backyard dog or was a stray for some time as her beautiful coat has some sun damage (it's a bit bleached), but it should darken in time with good nutrition and care.

She can be a little shy so would be best in a home with older or gentle children, and she seems to prefer women over men. She loves to play though! And she does fine with other small dogs and cats and she does great in the car! She just needs someone who can love and spoil her and take her along everywhere. :)
Her foster home reports she is the perfect dog, saying that she's the best dog they have fostered yet! She's already spayed, up to date on shots, microchipped, and comes with a collar, harness, leash, and a bag of food!

HONEY



Honey is a 1yo ENORMOUS Chihuahua (well, about 13lbs but is probably about 15-16 inches tall!), so we think she may actually be part Italian Greyhound or Whippet due to her long, lanky legs and sleek body.

She was rescued from the shelter after being overlooked for a month due to her lack of socialization. She was abandoned at the shelter (in a gold dress!!) by a man who owned a mobile home park and she was the dog of one of the residents. They had had her since she was a puppy and she never once left the property. She entered the shelter being extremely fearful but with just a few weeks of much needed socialization she has already become a whole lot more comfortable with the world.

Honey is an incredibly sweet and cuddly dog. She's already spayed, up to date on shots, housebroken, crate trained, and does great in the car! She gets along well with other dogs and is okay with cats and gentle kids. She would actually make a GREAT agility dog with her speed and agility! But she mellows out really well and is a total couch-potato too. She just needs to be able to get out more, meet new people and other dogs, and be loved! She is a very loyal, smart, trainable dog who will bond greatly with whoever provides her a loving home.

TOMMY



Tommy is a wonderful 1yo beautiful Chihuahua/Shiba Inu mix. He was rescued from the shelter after being overlooked for about a month, probably because he was a little more timid than the other dogs (but I don't blame him - the shelter can be a scary place!). But he has really come out of his shell in his foster home!

Overnight he sleeps well in a crate, and during the day, he rests quietly when left alone with a cozy bed and some toys. He appears to be housebroken already. He loves to go on walks and is very easy to walk on the leash, he doesn't pull very hard and he will look back to make sure you're still there. He's not a barker at all. He's a little timid but extremely loving and very gentle. His foster home walked him by a school and he was a little nervous but he didn't mind all the other kids, people, strollers, and cars. He didn't even bark at the dogs in the daycare when he went shopping at Petsmart. But he does like to play, he has played really well with his foster's dogs. And he doesn't seem to shed at all! He's an incredibly sweet little boy and very smart. Tommy is honestly an amazing, perfect little dog who would make almost anyone a loyal, wonderful companion. He's already neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped, and comes with a harness, leash, and a bag of food!

DEWEY

Dewey is a very sweet and special 10yo purebred wirehaired Dachshund. He is already neutered and up to date on his shots. He was pulled from the shelter after being picked up as a stray. After a visit to the vet, it was determined he is in the beginning stages of congestive heart failure. However, this can be managed comfortably with medication, so he should still have plenty of good years left! He is a very spunky and happy old man, who would be perfect for a senior or someone who is home a lot and needs a wonderful companion. He gets along GREAT with other dogs, cats, and kids.
He comes with a harness, leash, his medications, and a bag of food!

JUNE



June is the mother of Benny. She's quite smaller than him, surpisingly, how she managed to have such a big son! We think she might be chihuahua/terrier mix (she's about 8lbs), but we guess that Benny's dad may have been wirehaired dachshund? (Benny is 15lbs!) Who knows, they're a mystery, but cute as can be!
June is a very sweet little girl! She's about 2.5 years old. She seems to be pretty attached to her son, but they can be adopted separately too (would probably do better separated so they can learn to be individual dogs, but she would do best in a home with another dog or constant human companion as she doesn't like being completely by herself). She gets along really well with other dogs, ignores cats, and gives soft kisses! She's already spayed, up to date on her shots, and on heartworm preventative. Her only fault is that she will need some housebreak training since she's probably never had a stable home, but she's smart and willing to learn!
She comes with a harness, leash, and a bag of food!

BENNY



Benny is the son of June. He is really quite bigger than his mother, people mistake HIM as the mom! We think June might be chihuahua/terrier mix (she's about 8lbs), but we guess Benny's dad may have been wirehaired dachshund? (Benny is 15lbs!) Who knows, they're a mystery, but cute as can be!

BUTTERCUP



Buttercup is a purebred Pomeranian who is only 1 year old. He is already neutered and up to date on his shots. He was pulled from the shelter after being picked up as a stray. He got adopted but returned after only 4 days. The family that returned him claimed he was aggressive as he would "bite" peoples' faces. People can be so stupid! He is the SWEETEST, most loving little pup who just wants to LICK everyone! :) He is a little angel who loves to play with other dogs, ignores cats, and would do well in a family with kids who do well with dogs. Buttercup has the softest, plushest coat, which also means he will need regular brushing. He's an incredibly gorgeous standard size Pom weighing in about 13lbs.

VIOLET



Violet is a wonderful 2 year old Chihuahua/Basenji mix who was rescued from the shelter after being there for a month! She was picked up as a stray, and was thought to be pregnant, however, she started losing some weight so she was spayed. Good thing, because the vet found out she had a miscarriage!
Violet gets along great with cats! She totally respects and ignores them. She needs careful introduction to other dogs though, but she is fine with them after a pack is created. She's not aggressive, she just doesn't like them in her face. She is a total sweetheart and loves cuddling with her people. Violet is really submissive with people and should be fine with gentle, respectful children.
She's already spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. She's also housebroken and seems to know "sit" and does excellent in the car as well.
To top it all off, she has THE softest, silkiest coat!

TULIPS

Tulips is an incredibly sweet 1.5yo Chihuahua mix! She was rescued from the shelter, where she ended up as a stray, and had been there for a month! Poor thing just kept getting overlooked. She's only about 8lbs and gets along great with other dogs, ignores cats, and would be okay with gentle kids as well. She knows sit and appears to be housebroken, and she gets bonus points for those irresistible airplane ears!

She's already been spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped.

DIEGO



Diego is a very sweet 6 month old black Chihuahua puppy, who is already neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. He has had a very rough start at life, starting with abandonment, horrible case of mange, and months of living in the shelter. His mange has now cleared up and his fur should be fully grown back within a few weeks with gentle baths and good quality food. This loving little pup has never had a chance to learn what it is like to be loved and cared for as a house dog, but is very curious and willing to learn! He gets along great with other small dogs, is a little scared of larger dogs at first but could probably learn to adjust pretty quickly since he is still young, and is not too sure about cats, but with patience and training he should get along with cats just fine as well. He would also probably do fine with children as long as they are gentle with him.

ISABEL

Isabel is a 3yo Jack Russell/Dachshund mix who was found and loved by a woman who unfortunately felt it was unsafe for her to stay with her due to a vicious neighborhood dog. Isabel was later adopted twice from the shelter but returned due to her not being housebroken. Interestingly enough, her foster home reports she has not had an accident yet! She gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes, respects cats, and is great with children. She is an all-around perfect dog!
